Tiny Tykes Childcare Centre is open Monday to Friday, from 7:00 am to 6:00 pm. We offer full day childcare and enrichment for children aged birth to 5 years, as well as Pre-Kindergarten classes for four year olds in preparation for entering Kindergarten. We are a fully licensed and integrated centre.

Our Philosophy

To provide the freedom and environment in which a child can learn through play, grow up in a social and carefree atmosphere and develop physically in a secure and stimulating environment. We provide an environment through which a child will master developmental tasks related to physical, social and emotional growth. The formative years (birth to five,) are crucial to the development of the child. Quality childcare experiences can help children succeed in life.

Our Program

Our programs include age-appropriate activities designed to enhance and encourage learning and the development of social skills. Each program will follow the Provincially mandated Emergent Curriculum style of learning.

About Emergent Curriculum

Children love to explore new things. They have a natural curiosity that helps them make sense out of their world one little thing at a time. Our curriculum takes advantage of this natural curiosity and builds on this natural curiosity to teach important lessons.

The various learning centres, circle and story times, dramatic play, music, creative activities outings and field trips will be planned and adjusted to correspond with the children’s current interests and curiosities. The children learn through hands on experiences in which they discover how things work and explore new concepts. Teachers interact with the children in meaningful ways to direct the learning experiences.

Staff

Staffing levels are maintained according to the requirements of the Child Day Care Facilities Operator Standards.

Staff members are thoroughly screened and they must undergo a health and physical examination. Only the most qualified, thoughtful and caring staff work at Tiny Tykes. Your feedback and comments to the administrator or director with regards to the staff are encouraged. Occasionally student volunteers will work in the centre, under the direct supervision of qualified staff. Their presence is a great asset to the centre as well as valuable experience in their education.
